A 25 mm top is a familiar tournament reference and can support a more uniform bounce when the frame and installed level are also sound. It generally adds mass and may require more deliberate handling.
Flexibility priority
Lighter recreational tables may be easier to move and store, but surface response and frame stiffness can differ. Match the choice to play frequency rather than using thickness as the only quality signal.
